If only this long weekend never ends… A long weekend to enjoy before my field camp this coming Friday which means I will not be booking out this coming weekend and will only be out on the 6/7 November… Once field camp is over, the worst of BMT is over and BMT will be over very soon… Another 7 weeks in Tekong.

I booked out on Friday night and came home to my new Nokia E51 Non-Camera. A phone I bought for National Service. A phone with the features I need to stay in touch with the world out here… I setup the phone the whole night while doing my usual online stuff…

On Saturday, the family fetched the brother for tuition at Palais Renaissance as usual. Mom, sister and I hanged around town. We went to Isetan to buy a drink and EpiCentre Orchard to get myself a protector for my iPod nano which already has a chip at the lower right corner..

Afterwhich, Mom went to a salon at Far East Plaza as she was having a wedding dinner that night. After salon, we went back to Palais Renaissance to meet up with Dad and brother before dropping Mom at Vivocity and heading home. That night, the family went to Harbourfront to fetch Mom after the wedding dinner. I wanted to have supper so we went to Cheong Chin Nam where Dad and I had Teochew porridge.

We reached home a bit before midnight. I got a bath and started reading Saturday’s newspaper while watching Suze Orman Show on CNBC. I have been in camp so much that I am quite out of touch with the current Financial Crisis and other affairs.

Half the world away in Singapore, I think we are affected somehow or another with the investors in products of failed banks taking the direct hit. Other things to note, the American Presidential Elections and widespread melamine hunt with more and more food products identified to contain melamine which can cause kidney stones, cancer or reproductive damage. How I wish I had more time to read up and understand more of these current affairs…

Sunday morning, the family accompanied me to Army Market where I got some supplies for field camp and Mom got a box of SLII Muffins. We then spent the rest of the afternoon at Vivocity signing a new mobile plan, signing a new MaxOnline plan and Digital Voice, lunch at Imperial Herbal Restaurant and cancelling our current MaxOnline plan before heading home.

The family had Pizza Hut dinner at home as the maid had an off day. After dinner, I met with Jin and Angela at LotOne. It was a belated birthday get together for Jin. I must say LotOne changed so much. In the secondary school days, I used to know every corner of that place but now I can easily get lost in there. There were so many new shops and eateries. We had dessert at Ministry Of Food before renting The Plague and heading over to Jin’s to watch. After the movie, Angela and I headed home.

That more or less concludes my long weekend. I am going to hope that it’s not going to rain during my field camp… By the time field camp ends, America would have a new President… See you the next weekend… 😦

I knew this was coming. I knew I will have to do this. I am selling my 2 month old, refurbished, 8GB, black, 3rd Generation iPod nano to fund myself a new 4th Generation iPod nano.

10/10 Condition. It has NO flaws on body as it was fitted into the DLO Jam Jacket with Earbud Management upon unpacking as shown in the picture. It has NO scratches on screen.

I bought this from Apple Store SG, at the current price of $218. I think it’s only fair that its value depreciate through my 2 months of minimal usage. I am going to sell my iPod 3G nano for $168 with whatever it came with and I am also throwing in the DLO Jam Jacket with Earbud Management (worth $39) for FREE.

Today, I am going to introduce 2 websites that I use beyond Waffle. It sounds like I am going to forsake Waffle. Yes, I do have thoughts of moving Waffle to a private host but have no plans yet. Let’s get back to the today’s topic.

Netvibes

The first website that I will introduce is Waffle Universe, powered by Netvibes. I would call Netvibes a portal. A portal that consolidates all the information I want real-time. It tells me how many unread emails I have in my GMail and Hotmail accounts. It tells me what’s the weather in Singapore. It tells me if I have new Facebook friend requests. It tells me who had updated their blogs. I can make To-Do lists on it. I can leave notes to myself on it. I can read news on it.

I can do all the above without visiting their respective websites and all those are possible through Widgets and Feeds.

Recently, Netvibes gave Netvibes users a new way to share the information they have. Through Universes. At Waffle Universe, you will be able read the blogs that I read at “Feeds” tab and you will be able to surf the websites I frequent at “Online Haunts” tab. Now you know what I do during my long hours online.

Netvibes sounds interesting, isn’t it?

Maybe you should try it out!

All you need is a FREE account then you can start customising your own Netvibes portal and creating your own Netvibes Universe to share with your family and friends! If you really do like Netvibes and intend to stay, do add me as your contact as well so I can visit your Universe and know what you’re reading too!

Tumblr

The second website I will introduce is Mr. D, powered by Tumblr. Tumblr is a tumblelog provider just like WordPress is a blog provider.

Tumblelog?

Pronounced as tum-ble-log.

To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks.

You can also look at tumblelogs as slightly more structured blogs that make it easier, faster and more fun to post and share stuff you find or create.

For me, Tumblr is like Twitter and Blog’s love child. You share what you see, do, hear with the World Wide Web. Tumblr is Twitter with multimedia. It’s easy, powerful, mobile, free and YOU! You took a picture on your mobile, you can simply email it to your Tumblr account and now the WWW knows where you are and what you are doing. You found an interesting video on YouTube, you can share it on your Tumblr by simply copying the video’s URL (not embed code) and posting it.

Personally, I like to keep my blog tidy. I like the idea of having an entry each day. I don’t want to flood my blog with random links, videos, pictures etc. I don’t want to think of a wall of text to complement what I want to share. Therefore Tumblr is somewhere where I can flood with all the random stuff I want to share but not on my blog. Sounds bad to flood but Tumblr is simply built for that.

Blogs are great, but they can be a lot of work. And they’re really built to handle longer-form text posts. Tumblelogs, on the other hand, let you easily and quickly post and share anything you find or create.

Sounds like Waffle’s missing out all the random stuff right?

NOPE!

Take a look at the sidebar and you will notice a new RSS feed on Waffle.

Now nobody’s missing out on all the random stuff! 😀

After lunch, the Audit Assistant 2 wanted to get I Water from Isetan supermarket. I also wanted to get some ‘cooling’ drink because I am feeling quite heaty these days and have migraines intermittently. I came across this can with Korean words on it. I have this interest in Korean stuff like food, culture, fashion, dramas etc so I took the can and had a closer look….

It’s Rice Drink… It’s my first time coming across such a drink. I started to imagine how rice would taste in liquid form… Solid rice tastes well for me but I thought rice in liquid form would be disgusting… I was feeling a little adventurous so I took it and paid at the cashier…

Back in the office, I opened up the can and sipped it… It tasted nothing like rice… I rotated the can and saw this white sticker on it which states the contents of the drink. 40% Brown Rice, 30% White Rice, 27% Apple Juice and I don’t know what happened to the remaining 3%… I had a second sip and it tasted nothing like apply juice as well. It tasted just like milk…

Convinced that it doesn’t taste awful, I slowly enjoyed my rice drink. It only tasted a little like brown rice after it lost its coolness when I had my last sip.

It’s 30th October 2007! It’s Jeon Ji-Hyun’s 26th Birthday! It just feels like my birthday too… Let’s us all leave our best wishes here!

Happy Birthday Ji-Hyun shii!

A couple of months more and we are going to be in the cinemas watching your Hollywood debut in Blood: The Last Vampire. I want to wish you all the best in your debut and may the movie be a sellout! May your career soar to greater heights with this movie! Also, may you meet your one true love soon…

It seems like many Singaporeans never heard, don’t know of this 5-Star Hotel… Sheraton Towers… Almost every time while my mom and I am waiting for my dad to come fetch us at the street level of Newton MRT Station, someone would come along and ask where Sheraton Towers is. I usually go “DUH!” in my mind and point straight up to the brown building beside Goldbell Towers…

This hotel is part of my childhood memories. It’s been awhile and I miss my cereal with banana slices breakfast… Maybe someday I should try going to the supermarket and get some cereal, milk and banana and reminisce the taste.

So now I do you a favour that you might or might not need… Telling you where Sheraton Towers is… If you are taking a train, exit the station, turn left, go up the escalator, turn left, walk down the staircase, facing the road, turn right, walk straight. First building, Goldbell Towers. Second building, Sheration Towers. If you are driving down from Scotts Road, Sheraton is after the construction site after IndoCafe on your left.

When I was schooling, I go to the toilet less than 5 times a day. Now that I am doing my internship, I think I go to the toilet twice as much. I go for toilet breaks almost every 2 hours, either to check my hair, take a leak or do my usual business… I also have to walk through the toilet many times a day to the other side of the office as it’s a shortcut.

I just wanted to show how much time I spend in the toilet… Toilet breaks are temporary getaways from work, a holy and personal time… I just really cannot understand why some people don’t respect that… Maybe they should get themselves educated by watching this 10 minute Toilet Etiquette video…

Let me now show you in a picture how my office toilet looks like and what ridiculous things people do….

  1. 3 men standing along the narrow corridor, around the sinks and urinals chatting away. How are the other toilet users going to get to the sinks, urinals or simply walk through the toilet? Imagine your quiet personal time being invaded by somebody’s small talk… The toilet isn’t a place to chat, proceed to the pantry!
  2. 2 men chatting and laughing while taking their leak at the urinals… OMGOODNESS?! That looks SO SO SO WRONG!

My dear brothers, hopefully the video helped to bring us to a higher level of civility…
